Who are suitable clients

Some of the criteria for suitability are:

·      The type and impact of the trauma experienced — EMDR is particularly effective for those who have experienced specific traumatic events that continue to evoke strong emotional reactions

·      Psychological readiness: The client must feel ready to face some potentially challenging memories.

·      Stability in the clients current life situation also plays a significant role. For EDRM to be most effective, having a stable living situation and not currently experiencing major life crises can help provide the emotional space needed for processing trauma.

·      Support from friends and family can provide a base for easier processing. The sessions can be tiring and having a quiet, peaceful place to go afterward is greatly beneficial.
