Somatoform Disorder
Somatoform Disorder
Somatoform Disorders Sensitive persons are easily misdiagnosed as having somatoform disorders (somatization, conversion, pain disorder, hypochondriasis, and body dysmorphic disorder).
The essential feature of Somatization Disorder is a pattern of recurring, multiple, clinically significant complaints. True, the pattern has to have begun before age 30, but it often does in sensitive young persons, who have not yet learned how to interpret and manage their stronger bodily reactions.
If sensitive patients have for many years lacked ways to handle their more intense emotional reactions, the body’s heightened and prolonged stress response will definitely create symptoms or lead to chronic illnesses for which there are no definitive tests, so that the symptoms and illnesses are or seem to be primarily psychological in nature.
