Introduction

Death is the physical event where spirituality becomes the persons reality. For those that have experienced it, their memories of what the experience was like, was that it felt MORE real than what they call “life”.

Whatever a person thinks “spirituality” is, at the moment of death, whatever they believed “it is…” suddenly becomes “I am…”.  There is incontrovertible proof that there IS a consciousness / sense of awareness from the person that is NOT based on their physical body or sensory apparatuses, regardless of prior beliefs.

The word “practical” is defined as: “of or concerned with the actual doing or use of something rather than with theory and ideas”.

This is why I chose to name the course “Practical Spirituality”.

I am a person in some of the 15-20% of the population with high “Sensory Processing Sensitivity”, also known as “Highly Sensitive People (HSPs).  As researcher Elaine Aron described it, it is a sub-set within and across species that exhibits 4 particular traits she called “D.O.E.S.”

-       a greater depth of processing for life
-       easily overly stimulated
-       a focus on emotions, empathy and reactivity;
-       reacting to subtle nuances and sensations of life more easily.

For me therefore, this course is not a dark or morbid topic, but rather one of personally studying the deeper meaning of what it means to have “life” and “consciousness”.

And just as the eye cannot see itself, is there a “me” that cannot be aware of “me”, (and this un-perception is itself a proof it is real)?

Human consciousness is impossibly vast for any one person to comprehend, but it doesn’t stop me from trying anyways…
