HSP is Not Autism

Sensitive persons do not perseverate (repeat or prolong an action, thought, or utterance after the stimulus that prompted it has ceased.) in the way that the autistic do, and they evidence high levels of empathy as well as adequate to excellent social skills, especially in familiar environments.

We also know that the brain functions differently in HSPs and those with autism spectrum disorders.

Those with high-functioning autism can train themselves to pay attention to social cues, but apparently they must make a great effort, while HSPs notice subtle social cues easily and usually enjoy it, even if they tire after a while by doing so much of it so well.
